The West Bengal State Education Department has launched an initiative to identify and nurture science talent among Class IX students in the state through the Jayaditya National Science Talent Search (JNSTS). The first layer of the VSAT exam will take place on 7th May 2023 and will be based on the Class VIII syllabus for science and maths. Students from government, government-sponsored, non-government-aided, and DA-getting schools nominated by their HMs, AI, and ICs are eligible to apply. The top 3 candidates from each unit will receive a book grant of Rs. 1,000, and the top 10% of students from each team will qualify for the second layer of the exam.


The VSAT exam aims to identify and nurture science talent among students from Class IX in West Bengal. This initiative by the West Bengal State Education Department is a great opportunity for students who have a passion for science and maths. The VSAT exam is an intra-state competition conducted in three layers. The first layer of the exam will take place on 7th May 2023 and will be based on the Class VIII syllabus for science and maths. The second layer of the exam will be conducted for the top 10% of students from each unit who have scored at least 40% of the total marks in Layer 1. The top 10 candidates from each district will receive a book grant of Rs. 2,000, and the top 20% of students from each district will qualify for the third layer of the exam.

It should  also  be nearby  the Cuslod ian  puint(  At  least 0 I  Exam  Centre in cach \JMlT (I3lock / Municipality / Dorough  of  Municipal  Corporation)  across  the  state).  Fcr  larger munic ipal ities, 2 or more ccn tors may be allotted. The no. of centres in each district may not b0 less lhan the n‹›. ul centres in VSO *022.”I”hc n‹›. ur ccntrcs in each district may be selected in anticipation that the no. of candidates in cach cen\re w ill not be more than 300.


 

 

 

 

Centre Superintendent:

Hol of the selemed ezam. center will act as the Centre Superintendent. He/she jointly with the Officer-in-Charge will verify the sealed packet details at the officc of the Custodian of Confidential Papers well before the exam. date. They will jointly collect the conf dential papers from the Custodian point one day before the date of exam. for starting the esam. in time. After completion of the exam., both of them will jointly submit the confidential papers to the to the concerned official (District Co-Ordinator) at district HQ for onward delivery to JBhSTS.

Officer-in-Charge:

One Sub-Inspectors of Schools (Sl/S) or Assistant Inspector of Sch‹x›1s (AI/S) wilt be nominated by the concerned DI/S (SE) to act as the Officer-in-Charge of the Exam center. He/she will jointly verify the sealed packet details at the office of the Custodian of Confidential Papers well before the exam. date. They will jointly collect the confidential paper from the Custodian point one day before the exam date. for starting the exam. in time. After complications of the exam., both of them will jointly submit the confidential papers to the concerned official (DisFict Co-Ordinator) at district HQ for onward delivery to JBNSTS.

 

Custodian of Confidential Papers:

DI/S (S2) will select the Custodian of Confidential Papers in consultation with the district administration. The Treasury Officer of the nearby Treasury / Officer-in6hargc of the concerned Police Station will act as the Custodian of Confidential Papers as per directions of the appropriate authority.

 

District Co-Ordinator:

One AI/S or SI/S may be encrusted by the consumed DI/S (SE) to act as District Co-Ordinaor (Vidyasagar Science Olympiad) for overall monitoring and smooth implementation of all activities in this regard including cohesion and submission of the confidential papers to JBNSTS after completion of the exam.

 

Centre Superintendent, Officer-in-charge of the exam. center, custodian (except District Co-Ordinator which is to be submitted separately) of a district will be selected by the DI/S tSE) and the said names with their detailed information of the same will be submitted within Sth March 2023 positively in the Google Shem.
